About CASCADE

CASCADE is a multi-country program implemented by CARE international and GAIN as the lead agencies in Benin, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Uganda funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. CASCADE plans to improve food security and reduce malnutrition of at least five million women of reproductive age and children under five years of age. The project will increase access to and consumption of healthy diets and increase households’ resilience to economic- and climate change-related shocks across the six countries.

To achieve goals, CASCADE works across five domains of change:
1) Strengthened policy implementation;
2) Supportive private service providers;
3) Strengthened community structures;
4) Women’s empowerment / Equality for women and girls; and
5) Coordination among food system actors and processes.

In Uganda, CARE leads the implementation of CASCADE at the national, district and community level through a consortium with GAIN, Food Rights Alliance, Kyambogo University, Africa Innovations Institute, Farm Africa and 20 Women Led Organizations.
